Valuing
Work
Understanding the contribution
made by different roles and jobs to the success of the organization
is a vital input to the design of a wide range of human resource
interventions. These include organization structures and processes,
reward management, succession planning and cost containment. Through
seminars and consulting work, HRM Consulting helps organizations define and
analyze work, jobs, roles and teams to match their needs.
Job Evaluation
Organizations need a sound and straightforward
method to measure and value work on an ongoing basis, one that effectively
reflects their specific organizational culture and values. HRM Consulting
will identify a benchmark jobs to be used as a basis for measuring
jobs and pre-evaluate the benchmark jobs using the Guide Chart-Profile
Method of Job Evaluation. Using the validated evaluations, we will
design grading bands, which organization can use to easily slot
additional jobs, as and when required.
Skills & Competency-based Grading
Competence-related job evaluation is usually based on core or generic competences. Competence-related factors need to represent the underlying competences required to meet the demands of roles at different levels in the organization or within a job family - this implies that it will be possible to define levels at which any particular competence or cluster of competences will be required. HRM Consulting provides the advantages of integrated approach to define job grade flexibly for reward and development.
Broad Banding
One element of pay that organizations
are struggling with is the traditional system of grading. These
highly vertical systems with their vast number of grades are out
of synch with the flatter, flexible, team-orientated cultures that
organizations are moving toward. HRM Consulting introduces the broad-banding
because it allows more flexibility in making and administering pay
decisions and recognizes that careers are more likely to develop
within homogeneous levels of responsibility, rather than by progressing
up a number of steps in a hierarchy.
Job Families & Levels of Work
Jobs are the basic building
blocks of organizations and individual clarity. HRM Consulting helps
clients design, assess and describe jobs - their accountabilities
and competencies - in ways that enhance clarity, growth and contribution
to business success. Our approach focuses on both what needs to
be done and how it should be done. Because job family modelling
defines the levels of competence and skill required in a hierarchy
of roles, it can be used to help organization in the preparation
of personal development plans.
HRM Consulting assists clients in all levels of job design - from
the boardroom to the mailroom. By linking measurement tools and
analytical processes, we help identify critical job requirements
for today and tomorrow and determine how jobs interrelate and fit
within job families or ladders.
